Laleye Dipo in Minna
Three children of the same parents have suffocated in an abandoned car in Minna Niger state.
The deceased and two others, one of them a girl, were reported to be residing in the Gurara-Albashir area of the state capital.
According to eyewitness, the incident occurred on Sunday when the children were said to be playing around their area before they suddenly went into the abandoned vehicle which had its windows wound up.
It could not be confirmed how the children locked themselves in the vehicle for about five hours which led to their death.
The search for the children for this long period, the eyewitness said, led to their bodies being discovered in the vehicle which had been abandoned for more than three years.
The Chairman of Chanchaga Local Government Area, Alhaji Aminu Ladan, confirmed the incident, saying the remains of the children have been recovered and handed over to their parents for burial.
The Police in Minna is yet to comment on the incident.
