Hammed Shittu in Ilorin
A suspected thief was at the weekend killed by residents of Apalara in Ilorin West Local Government Area over an attempt to steal a motorcycle.
The incident, according to THISDAY, occurred on Saturday around 9:00 p.m. when the suspect boarded the motorcycle.
According to a resident of the area who sought anonymity, “The suspect was apprehended after a failed attempt to slaughter the motorcycle owner from the back.
“They both fell and the suspect tried to run with the bike but was given a hot chase by some residents who used every available objects around to beat him until he died.”
When contacted yesterday, the spokeswoman of the state Police Command, Toun Ejire-Adeyemi (DSP), confirmed the incident.
She said the suspect was confirmed dead when the police rushed him to the hospital after they got to the scene.
