The All-Progressives Congress (APC) in the South-east Zone has ratified the suspension of the federal commissioner representing Enugu State at the Federal Character Commission (FCC), Ms. Ginika Tor.

Recall that the Enugu State chapter of the APC had suspended the federal character commissioner over alleged gross misconduct, anti-party activities and an attempt to create a parallel executive of the party in the state.

The State Executive Committee (SEC) of the party had received two petitions against Tor, which were referred to the State Disciplinary Committee (SDC) of the party headed by Mr. Vincent Chieyine.

After the investigation, the committee submitted a report to the SEC with a recommendation for her suspension, including seeking her replacement as a federal commissioner, among other sanctions.

After reviewing the report, the SEC yesterday met at the zonal secretariat of the party where it unanimously endorsed the recommendations of the disciplinary committee.

In a statement at the end of the meeting, the National Vice Chairman of APC South-east, Mr. Ijeomah Arodiogbu, said that the now-suspended Tor was engaged in anti-party activities and published statements that were intended to bring the leadership of APC Enugu State and its state executive into disrepute, contempt, hatred and public ridicule on March 10, 2024.

“She also created a factional/parallel SEC in APC Enugu State, which is contrary to Section 21:2 of the 2022 Constitution of the APC as amended,” the statement reads.

The resolution ratifying the suspension of the federal character commissioner was copied to the National Chairman of APC, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje; the Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodinma, who is also the leader of APC South-east

Others are APC Deputy National Chairman, South, Mr. Emma Eneukwu and Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Mr. Uche Nnaji.
