There is a fire outbreak at the popular Sawmill at Abule Egba area of Lagos.
THISDAY reliably gathered that the fire outbreak began Sunday evening.
According to eyewitness account, the fire was caused by power surge from the transformer at Awori.
A resident, Mr. Abiodun Awogbemi, in a facebook post, said the area had been in blackout for days till this evening when a certain blast resorted in fire.
“There had been power outage in the area in the last three days. It was alleged that when the power was restored there was a loud blast from the transformer which led to a cable cut that led to the fire outbreak.
Awogbemi however confirmed that the Lagos State Fire Service responded promptly and succeeded in reducing the inferno with the help of other citizens.
Observers believed that the power surge might have resulted due to the machine that was not put off.
Goods worth millions of naira are believed to have been destroyed but no life was lost.
