Finally, Port Harcourt Refinery Resumes Production after Christmas 

*FG says phase one rehabilitation process mechanically completed, phase two streaming slated for 2024

Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil), Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, has announced the completion of the long-awaited rehabilitation of Port Harcourt Refinery in Rivers State, disclosing that the facility will resume production of petroleum products after Christmas.

It also disclosed that the Phase One of the refinery achieved mechanical completion and flare startup on December 20.

Lokpobiri made the announcement Thursday, at the refinery complex during a short press conference preceding the business meeting of the Presidential Refinery Rehabilitation Steering Committee.

Lokpobiri also disclosed that the streaming of the Phase Two of the refinery will happen in 2024. 

Other top government officials present during the announcement were the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), Hon. Ekperikpe Ekpo; Chairman of the Board of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), Chief Pius Akinyelure; Group Chief Executive Officer of NNPCL, Mallam Mele Kyari; NNPC’s Executive Vice President (Upstream), Mrs Oritsemeyiwa Eyesan; and her counterpart at the Downstream, Mr. Adedapo Segun; amongst other staff of the company.
