Teach For Nigeria Institutes Award to Honour Ex-board Chairman 

Teach For Nigeria (TFN), a non-profit organisation committed to promoting educational equity and excellence in Nigeria, has organised a farewell dinner to celebrate Mr. Gbenga Oyebode for his six years of dedicated and transformative leadership as the TFN board chairman. 

The event, held in Lagos, was attended by notable philanthropists, government officials, board members, and ambassadors of Teach For Nigeria. Oyebode served as the pioneer board chairman of Teach For Nigeria. His unwavering commitment has been instrumental in steering the organisation towards its vision of expanding educational opportunities for all children in Nigeria. 

Under Oyebode’s leadership, the organisation expanded its reach across four states, placing over 1,500 fellows, with more than 190,000 children impacted, and developed an alumni network of 835 visionary leaders changing Nigeria’s education landscape. 

In her remarks, the CEO of Teach For Nigeria, Folawe Omikunle, commended Oyebode for his unwavering commitment and guidance in steering the organisation’s vision. 

“Mr. Oyebode’s passion for educational equity has inspired us all and has left an indelible mark on our journey towards unlocking the potential of all children in Nigeria,” she stated.

The current board chair, Kunle Elebute, extolled Oyebode’s leadership qualities and outstanding contribution to the growth of Teach For Nigeria. 

He announced the Gbenga Oyebode’s Outstanding Leadership Award for exceptional Teach For Nigeria Fellows as a legacy project in honour of the former board chairman. 

Oyebode described Teach For Nigeria as an essential vehicle for change in Nigeria’s education. 

He called on everyone to become great role models, donate their time to the cause, and continue to show up to address education inequity in Africa. He promised continued support for the organisation to ensure Teach For Nigeria remains successful.
