The Kwara State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at the weekend said the recent  decision of the national working committee (NWC)  to give approval to the newly nominated officials of the state chapter of the party was to restore the lost glory of the party.

The party also said the decision has  vindicated and validated  the position of the party leadership in the state to put new but vibrant and committed officials in charge of the affairs of the party in the state for future electoral victory.

The National Working Committee (NWC) of the party in a statement issued recently and signed by the National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Debo Ologunagba, which is the outcome of its 579th meeting held in Abuja, approved the new officials of the party in the state.

Those officials approved included: Abdulrahman Abdullahi Kayode(Secretary); Olusegun Olusola Adewara(PRO); Hajia Rahamat Segilola Abdulkadir (Women Leader), and Hon Idris Mudashiru (Deputy Chairman).

However, a statement issued by the PDP in the state signed by the state party’s Secretary, AbdulRahman Kayode, stated that: “The decision of the NWC also confirmed that the party leadership followed due process in the nomination of these new officials.

“With its endorsement, the NWC has given the nod to these officials who have positively changed the face of the party and reformed it to continue with the good job they have been doing. We see this as a good development for the party.

“This puts to rest the wrong insinuations being made by those who feel threatened and uncomfortable with the new vigour and zeal that the reconstituted state party executive is exhibiting and the positive image it has created in the state.”

The statement added: “Since the new officials assumed office, some desperate elements have rushed to the public to spread lies, suggesting that the reconstitution was an example of high-handedness and lack of due process.

“This is far from the truth, as we have always been guided by the party’s constitution in all our processes and decisions.”

On the issue of the suspended State Youth Leader, the secretary acknowledged that the state chairman received a letter of apology from the NWC which was written and signed by Mahmud Haliru Dantsoho.

“However, the suspended youth leader has in a circulated video clip denied that he authored the letter.

“By his denial, he has chosen to impugn the reputation and integrity of the acting national chairman who received the letter and forwarded it to the state chairman.

“Just like the acting national chairman, the state chairman, who was given the letter, is also being discredited by the unstable action and careless pronouncements of this suspended youth leader,” .

He noted that, “Once again, the suspended youth leader has proved how unfit he is to hold such a sensitive position in the party.

“In the meantime, the SWC will be meeting to consider the latest action of the suspended youth leader,” Dantsoho said.

He added: “Furthermore, for clarity’s sake and for the last time, we would like to once again address the issue of the 2023 campaign funds over which the suspended youth leader has been raising false allegations.

“It should be noted that when the suspended youth leader first raised the issue of the campaign funds, the party set up a committee to investigate it.

“The committee carried out a thorough investigation and presented its report to the SWC. The committee concluded in its report that Dantsoho’s allegations were false and baseless.

“We want to reassure our party members and the public at large that the Kwara State PDP will continue its reform and repositioning process aimed at further building good relationships with the electorate and serving the interest of the people.”
