A ctress and Producer Toyin Abraham has released the trailer for her upcoming film, “Malaika.” The film, set to debut in cinemas on December 22, 2023, is directed by Steve Olufemi Sodiya.
Malaika, focuses on Toyin’s character who is struggling to cope with her infertility and anger issues. She is surrounded by a supportive group of friends and family, but she ultimately must embark on a spiritual journey to find healing.
The trailer also reveals a star-studded cast, including Ugandan entertainer and comedian Anne Kansiime; Emeka Ike; Odunlade Adekola; Adebayo Ridwan Abidemi (Isbae U); Uzor Arukwe; Oderhohwo Joseph “Carter” Efe; Ibrahim Chatta; Pelumi Olawuni (Abike Shugaa); and veteran actress Taiwo Ajai-Lycett.
Interestingly, Malaika marks Emeka Ike’s return to with the new title set to unravel an intriguing story. In the recently released clip, Ike pairs with Toyin Abraham as a married couple faced with issues that turn them against each other. After several years of trying, the wife voices out the frustration of being childless and desires answers to the situation at hand.
Produced by Abraham, Malaika comes a year after her last movie Ijakumo: The Born Again Stripper, which also drew loads of attention with its captivating storyline.
Without regard to the critical acclaim awarded Ijakumo, Toyin has proven that she truly believes in her craft. Known for her highly topic-driven titles, the anticipation is high to see what this feature will bring forward this time around.
