Former Oyo State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Kunmi Mustapha, yesterday described the establishment of College of Agricultural Science and Renewable Natural Resources, Iseyin, a campus of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso; and the reconstruction of Iseyin-Oyo road as age-long prayers of the people of the community that have been answered.

Mustapha in a statement issued yesterday, while commending the state Governor, Seyi Makinde, for making the dream of the people a reality with the projects, said all preparations have been put in place towards the inauguration of the projects today by former President Olusegun Obasanjo.

He added that residents of the ancient town are anxious to welcome Chief Obasanjo, the governor and his entourage, as well as other important dignitaries for the inauguration of the projects.

According to him, “Now that our age-long prayers to have a public higher institution of learning have been answered by God through his messenger, Governor Makinde, we the Iseyin people have nothing to say than to rejoice and appreciate God Almighty for this blessing.

“We know how long we have been pestering successive state administrations and the federal government for the establishment of a public institution of learning; we also know how tedious the road for the establishment has been to the college and the successful approval for the reconstruction of Iseyin-Oyo road, which has been abandoned for many years.

“The Seyi Makinde’s admi-nistration is a testimony to the fact that God never abandons His own people, this is why we appreciate God for blessing Oyo State with such a kindhearted leader.”

“I will say here again like I always say that the history of Iseyin will not be completed without the mention of this angel in human form, who has come to govern Oyo State at a critical period that the state required astute leadership.”

Meanwhile,  Makinde has approved the appointment of Prince Sefiu Olawale Oyebola, as the the Aseyin of Iseyin.

The governor gave the approval in a memo signed  yesterday, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by subsections 1 and 2 of the Chiefs’ Law, Cap. 28, Volume I, Laws of Oyo State of Nigeria, 2000.

A statement by the  Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Hon. Olusegun Olayiwola, said the approval is a culmination of a series of processes stipulated by the extant laws of the state regarding ascension to royal thrones.

The statement added that the governor congratulated the new Aseyin-elect, praying that his tenure would usher in greater developments to Iseyin.

The governor is due to receive former President Olusegun Obasanjo in the state, on Friday (today), to  inaugurate  the 34.85 kilometres Oyo-Iseyin Road and the newly-constructed LAUTECH College of Agriculture and Renewable Natural Resources, Iseyin.
