Open Access Data Centres (OADC), the data centre infrastructure arm of West Indian Ocean Cable Company (WIOCC), has reiterated its commitment to build world-class data centres in Nigeria and across African countries in order to boost data centre infrastructure on the African continent.
The company reiterated its commitment at a breakfast meeting, which held in Lagos on Tuesday.
Addressing chief executives and chief technology officers of banks and organisations during the breakfast meeting, the Chief Executive Officer of Open Access Data Centres, Dr. Tunde Coker, said OADC remained committed to improving data centre infrastructure across Africa, and provide unlimited access to organisations, to enable them concentrate on their core customer business, while saving cost of building and maintaining their own data centres.
According to Coker, “OADC is actively building data centres across Africa. We have taken the burden of organisations in building their own data centres, and we will continue to expand our data centres as the demand increases. Our value proposition is to ensure that business that are connected to our data centres, maintain zero downtime in all their operations.
Speaking on the sustainability plan, Coker said Open Access Data Centres would ensure uninterrupted power supply to its data centres by building solar powered energy to run all its data centres.
“Since the launch of OADC in Nigeria, we have significantly improved the number of carriers on our ecosystem. We have commenced the expansion of the third floor of our Data Centre in Lekki, Lagos. We have also been building open access points to connect more organisations and businesses,” Coker said.
The General Manager, WIOCC Nigeria, Mr. Slawomir Cieslinski, said WIOCC would continue to offer connectivity services to data centre operators and Internet Service Providers (ISPs) in a most cost-effective way that will enable them serve their customers better.
“The presence of WIOCC and OADC will boost connectivity as well as open access to data centre infrastructure in Nigeria and the rest of Africa. The issue of barriers and limitations to connectivity and data centre infrastructure will be over as WIOCC and OADC will continue to provide unlimited connectivity and open access from our data centre facilities,” Cieslinski said.
