House Sets Up Transition Committees, Adjourns Plenary Until July 4

The House of Representatives has adjourned plenary until July 4 to be able to assign permanent sitting positions and offices to the lawmakers.

The adjournment followed a motion for adjournment moved at the plenary on Wednesday by former Deputy Speaker, Hon. Idris Wase.

Earlier, the Speaker, Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, announced the composition of transition committees to help oversee the affairs of the House pending their return on July 4 and when the standing committees will be constituted.  

Abbas said he and his Deputy Speaker, Hon. Benjamin Kalu, will chair the selection committee, with a lawmaker from 36 states and FCT as members.

The Internal Security Committee of the National Assembly will be chaired by Hon. Danjuma Hassan, while Media and Public Affairs Committee will be chaired by Hon. Abba Buka-Ibrahim with Hon. 

Ikenga Ugochinyere as Deputy Chairman.
