Izedonmwen, Igbinadolor Triumph at BCGS Captain’s Golf Tourney

Dr. Omo Izedonmwen and Ehis Igbinadolor emerged victorious at the Benin Club Golf Section (BCGS) Captain’s Inaugural Golf Tournament 2023 concluded on Sunday in Benin-City, Edo State.

Izedonmwen (hcp 16) against all odds played a net score of 72 to emerge best in the men’s hcp 0 – 18 category. Gen. Oscar Iyare (rtd) placed second by beaten Engr. Ben Oghumah (hcp 8) and F. Aganmwonyi (hcp 14) on count-back having all played 75 net for them to place third and fourth respectively.

Igbinadolor (hcp 11) cart away the ladies hcp 0 – 28 trophy with amazing 72 net ahead fmr. Lady Captain, Suwadetu Mahmud (hcp 19) who had 79 net while LGAN South-South Zonal Vice-President, Sandra Emina (hcp 14) with 80 net beat Joy Omorogiuwa on count-back to third spot.

The men’s best gross award went to Osazee Iyare with 79 gross while Debby Otabor with 90 gross won the ladies category of the inaugural tournament held for two days with over 150 golfers across Nigeria.

In his closjng remarks, BCGS Captain, Joseph Idahosa appreciated the Committee, members, guests golfers for making the event a great success beyond his expectation.

Joezaza as fondly called who was showered with encomiums for his leadership quality and humility promised to leave a legacy that his administration will forever be known, adding that more tournaments were in the process.

Other winners included O. Akhigbe (hcp 27) with 85 net in the men’s hcp 19 – 28 category, Foluso Oboro (hcp 35) with 78 net in the ladies hcp 29 – 36 cadre.

Sir Tony Aghedo played 75 net to win the veteran men’s while Dr. Jackson Gaius-Obaseki with 86 net won the super veteran men’s. Also, Prof. Mrs A.O Dawodu won the veteran ladies with 81 net just as Chief Mrs Ivie Iyoha dominated super veteran ladies category with 88 net. Sala Oise Esq., (UBTH) won the guest ladies with 73 net.

Similarly, the longest drive Day 1 hole 11 men’s and ladies waa won by Pharm. E. Enomase and Mrs Edith Edeki. The Day 1 nearest the pin hole 14 winners were D. Iberi and Mrs Foluso Oboro

The Day 2 longest drive hole 1 men’s won by O. Moses (UBTH) while D. Osmond from Lagos won the ladies category. Izedonmwen and Igbinadolor won the nearest the pin hole 2 men’s and ladies respectively.
