The Katsina State Governor, Aminu Bello Masari, has declared Monday 11th of April 2022 as a work-free day to enable workers and their families exercise their franchise in the state local government elections.

This is contained in a statement issued by the Permanent Secretary, Administration, office of the state Head of Civil Service, Alhaji Usman Isyaku.

The Katsina State Independent Electoral Commission (KATSIEC) has fixed April 11, 2022 as the date for the conduct of local government elections after six years of legal battle between the state government and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) over the tenure of dissolved council officials.

Masari, according to the statement, said the one day public holiday is declared to enable civil servants and their families cast their votes in their respective constituencies.

Consequently, he urged workers in the state to utilize the opportunity given to them to peacefully exercise their constitutional rights by voting for candidates of their choice.
