Beninese Govt Releases Sunday Ighoho from Custody

Eight months after he was arrested in the Republic of Benin while trying to board a flight to Germany, Yoruba Nation Activist, Chief Sunday Adeyemi, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, has been released by the Beninese government.


A press statement Monday by the Leader of the  Yoruba Self-determination group, Ilana Omo Oodua Worldwide, Professor Banji Akintoye, and a French Language Expert/Deputy Alana of Ilana Omo Oodua Worldwide, Professor Wale Adeniran, said Igboho was released on Monday.


In the statement by the Communications Secretary to Ilana Omo Oodua Worldwide, Mr. Maxwell Adeleye, Akintoye described the release of Ighoho as a triumph of truth over darkness in Yoruba land.

Although it could not be immediately confirmed why the release was hurriedly done given the fact he still has case before  Beninese court, Igboho was said to be down with kidney and lung diseases contracted during his incarceration. 


His lawyer, Yomi Alliyu said he was in hospital most of the time as he battled the ailments.
