Ondo NSCDC Deploys 1,750 Personnel ahead of Yuletide

  •     As FRSC mobilises 670 personnel, three ambulances, 12 patrol vehicles

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ondo State Command, has said it has deployed 1,750 of its personnel to ensure adequate security across the state in the festive season.

This was contained in a statement signed by the state Commandant, Dr. Hammed Abodunrin, which was made available to journalists in Akure yesterday.

Abodunrin, while giving the assurance of adequate security during and after the yuletide celebration, warned personnel against all forms of unprofessional conduct in the discharge of their duties.

He declared total clampdown on all hoodlums, vandals and perpetrators of crime within the state.

The NSCDC boss directed further that the Corps’ Counter Terrorism Unit, Agro Rangers Squad, Intelligence and Investigation team, Rapid Response Squad, the Armed Squad and the Special Female Squad to identify hot spots to make the celebration a hitch-free one.

He said: “By virtue of Section 14(2)(b) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999(as amended), the security and welfare of the people shall be the primary purpose of the government, and this will be pursued with all vigour.”

Abodunrin, however, noted that we cannot leave security in the hands of the government alone, and therefore, charged every resident of the state to be security conscious and also provide prompt information to security agencies.

In the same vein, the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), Ondo State Command, has said deployed no fewer than 670 personnel, three ambulances, two bikes and 12 patrol vehicles to ensure free flow of traffic during yuletide season in the state.

The state Sector Commander of FRSC, Mr. Ezekiel SonAllah, made the disclosure in Akure while speaking with journalists on level of the command preparedness for the 2021 operation zero-tolerance special patrol.

SonAllah, who explained that the deployment was to ensure free flow of traffic and zero crashes on highway, said all the personnel and logistics would be on the road till January 15, 2022.

According to him, “We have started public enlightenment, and there is synergy operation with other sister agencies to have free flow traffic during the yuletide celebration.

“So, we have deployed 454 regular marshals, 216 special marshals and logistics, we have also deployed 12 patrol vehicles, two bikes and three ambulances.

“Also, there will be 24 hours standby rescue and recovery services of our ambulances and 24 hours intelligence operation of personnel to give situation report where to deploy more men to across the highways.

“For now, those being deployed will cover Ikare-Akoko axis up to Owena, Ajibanidele to Ore, Ondo town and other strategic areas that we have mapped out.”
