Bola Tinubu U-20 Cup Gets February Date

An Under – 20 football competition instituted in honour of former Governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has been scheduled to kick off in February, 2021.

Organisers of the event, Double Accord Resources, explained that the competition is designed “to enhance youth engagement and empowerment, promote friendship and unity among the leaders of tomorrow, provide a platform for young persons to showcase their talents and support the discovery and nurturing of future stars in the game of football.”

Chairman of the organising committee, Samuel Abikoye, revealed that the Asiwaju Bola Tinubu Cup has been scheduled to kick off on February 15 with the finals towards the end of March to coincide with the 70th birthday anniversary of the national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Throwing further light, Fred Edoreh, Media Coordinator of the project, explained that “while the first edition shall feature youth teams from the 20 Lagos Local Government Areas and 37 LCDAs as a pilot, the ultimate direction of the organisers is to expand the event nationally in conformity with the stature of the Jagaban.”
