Enugu Congratulates UNGA, FG on Day of Peace

The Enugu State Government led by Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi has extended its solidarity to the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), the Institute for Peace and Conflict Resolution, and Nigerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the occasion of this year’s commemoration of the International Day of Peace in line with UN resolution 55/282 of 1981.

In a goodwill message signed by the tate Commissioner for Information, Nnanyelugo Chidi Aroh, yesterday, the state government said it was very proud of the remarkable efforts of the Institute for Peace and Conflict Resolution in stimulating non-violent approach to conflict resolution in Nigeria.

Aroh disclosed that the state government was further encouraged by the theme of this year’s celebration: ‘Recovering Better for an Equitable and Sustainable World’, adding that the topic “obviously resonates with our people particularly as our country makes this great recovery from the challenges of insecurity and criminality that have threatened our national peace and progress.”

The state government, therefore, urged all Nigerians to strive continually for justice as a foundation to achieve world peace and stability, “which will effectively check the proliferation and impact of armed conflicts in our country.”

The government went further to enjoin all Nigerians to take responsibility for this global peace building effort and sensitization activities on the COVID-19 pandemic, stressing: “Together we shall build a more equitable and sustainable world by promoting justice and peace. #Takeresponsbilitynaija.”
