Bauchi Police Arrest 19 Armed Robbery Suspects

The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested 19 suspects of armed robbery, kidnapping, unlawful possession of firearms and other crimes.

The Commissioner of Police, Mr. Sylvester Alabi disclosed this at a news conference on the operations the operatives his command carried out in August 2021.

He said six of the armed robbery suspects were arrested on August 2 in Kandahar, Bauchi, adding that the suspects attacked two houses at Alkaleri Local Government Area with cutlasses and robbed occupants of N2 million and four handsets.

The police chief identified other suspects as Yahaya Ibrahim of Fadaman Mada Quarters, Bauchi, Aminu Ibrahim and Umar Ibrahim who allegedly robbed some residents of two laptop computers, motorcycle and three android phones.

Alabi added that within the period under review, police arrested one Munkaila Abdullahi who allegedly hit a commercial motorcyclist on the head with a stone and carted away with his vehicle.

Aside the armed robbers, the police commissioner said they apprehended suspected kidnappers namely; Ibrahim Adamu, Musa Musa, Buhari Mahanga and Isah Magama for allegedly raiding the house of one Alhaji Abdullahi Abdullahi in Toro Local Government, shot him; kidnapped his two wives and collected N1.2 million as ransom.

The police boss further revealed that his men nabbed a fleeing serial kidnapper who fled from Plateau to hide out in the state, saying the Command arrested other suspected criminals in parts of the state.

According to him, the suspected serial kidnapper, one Sanusi Lauwali (a.k.a No Delay), a resident of Gudale, a village in Ningi Local Government Area was arrested based on intelligence.
He said that the suspect confessed to have fled from Tunga village in Plateau State, where he was at a mining site for two years before moving to Gudale village.

“On preliminary investigation, Sunusi Lauwali confessed to having relocated from Tunga village in Plateau State to Gudale village in Ningi LGA.
“The suspect revealed that he has been at a mining site of Tunga village for 2yrs where he belonged to a group of criminals who specialised in armed robbery and kidnapping,” Alabi informed.

“The suspect Sunusi Lauwali confessed his involvement in some kidnapping and armed robbery activities around Dabbar Tsintsiya and Tunga villages in Plateau State and confirmed to have benefitted N250, 000 as his share from the proceed of crime they collected from their kidnapped victim at Dabar Tsintsiya village,” he said.

The police chief said an investigation was being expanded to nail the fleeing accomplices, noting that all the suspected criminals arrested would be charged to court after investigations.
