Lagos Sports Summer Camp Kicks off in Badagry

Badagry Grammar School is agog as the first phase of the season two of the Lagos Sports Summer Camp organised by Lagos State Sports Commission.

The first of the three phases is made up of 60 per cent sports and 40 per cent life skills which commenced on August 15 and will end today has 120 participating students aged between nine to 14 from both public and private schools in Lagos State in attendance.

Participants at the camp are being exposed to sports such as athletics (track and field), basketball, chess, darts, judo, karate, scrabble, table tennis and volleyball.

For the life skills activities at the camp, all participants were divided according to their area of interest such as artwork, art and craft, tie and dye, makeup, hairdressing, hat- making as well as how to make a power bank and power bank battery.

Some of the participants speaking about their experience at the camp disclosed that they were so excited to be at the summer camp.

According to a female participant, Ayomide Akin- Idowu, a 14-year-old student of Badagry Senior Grammar School. “ I am happy to be here and my area of interest is to learn the game of scrabble and as well as to learn make-up.
“My first two days has been exciting with a lot of activities going on and I am very happy to be part of this experience.
“I want to thank the Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu for making this happen.”

To Fawole Adegoke, a 12-year-old male student of Grimos International College, Alabado, “My two days here so far has been a lot of fun, music, good food and conducive environment”.

“ So far, I am enjoying myself and hoping to go back home after learning new things that can be a life changer to me”.
“I am eagerly waiting to learn how to make power bank and power bank battery at the end of this Lagos Sports Summer Camp”.
“Thanks to Lagos State Government for organising this at no cost.“
Also speaking, Omoregie Mobolaji, a 14-year- old male student of Holyway Schools, Meran, Lagos said he was interested in fives sports and also want to learn the vocation of how to make power bank.

“I just want to say that I am very excited and happy to be here and I am going to make use of all the opportunity that will come my way at this camp.”
“ In just two days that I have been here, I can say that I am beginning to learn new things.

In her opinion, Fatile Ruth Olubunmi, 12-Year-Old Student of Badagry Junior Grammar School stated that Lagos Sports Summer Camp was a place to be.
“ My coming here is by chance, my friend told me that there is going to be a Sports Summer Camp here in Badagry and asked me to be part of it. “ Here I am today participating and I am happy that I am part of this very educative and informative camping”.

“ At this Lagos Sports Summer Camp, I am participating in Board Game. Thanks to Lagos State Governor for organising this,” She concluded.
The second and third phases of the camp will come up from August 22 to August 28 in Ikorodu and Surulere from August 29 to September 4.
