Gombe Pays Salaries, Pensions Ahead Sallah Celebration

Gombe State Governor, Alhaji Inuwa Yahaya, has directed the payment of salaries and pensions to all workers in the state, including those in the local government councils.

The Commissioner for Finance, Malam Muhammad Magaji, disclosed this yesterday, saying the directive was to enable the public workers have a blissful Eid-el-Kabir celebrations.
He said the governor also approved the sum of N73.2 million for the payment of compensation to 198 landowners who had their lands reclaimed by the government for various development purposes.

Ninety-six landowners were paid N48.2m in Kaltungo to allow for the construction of the permanent site of the recently established Federal Polytechnic, Kaltungo.
In Gona Akko LGA, 102 landowners also received N25.06m as compensation for the proposed Golf Course to be constructed through a Public-Private Partnership arrangement by the Gombe State Government.

Meanwhile, the governor has challenged members of the newly inaugurated Board of the Gombe State Investment and Property Development Company to exert their individual wealth of experience towards building a viable firm that can attract investment and boost the economy of the state, for the benefit of the people.

Yahaya stated this yesterday at the inauguration ceremony of the board, which took place at the Council Chamber of the Government House.

The governor noted that the delay in constituting the board was informed by the need for due diligence and what he described as a reconnaissance strategy, to get the best hands.

Yahaya said his decision to form such a team of impeccable personalities hinged on the need to retrace the steps of the company by looking at where it was, what it is and its projections.
