Nwokolo’s CBE Honour Well-deserved, Says Kwara Gov

Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has congratulated Prof. Chuka Uchemefuna Nwokolo on his recent conferment with the title of the Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) by Queen Elizabeth Il.

Prof. Nwokolo is a consultant gastroenterologist at the University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust in the United Kingdom.

In a statement on Wednesday by his Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, Governor AbdulRazaq said the honour was well-deserved for Professor Nwokolo whose road to fame is paved with brilliance, hard work, commitment to excellence, and service to humanity.

“Not only is Prof. a chip off the old block as his fine qualities are a reflection of his ancestry, his commitment to excellence, hard work, integrity and national values is also a continuation of the legacies of his own father, who was a professor of medicine and dean of faculty of Medicine in UNN, and his father-in-law who was Nigeria’s first Republic Foreign Affairs Minister Dr Jaja Wachuku. Prof. Nwokolo’s successes, to the point of being honoured by Her Royal Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II of England, are befitting and most complementary of his professional excellence,” according to the statement by the governor.

AbdulRazaq said: “His heroism before and in the heat of the COVID-19 last year was legendary, as he refused to go on his due retirement and chose to lead the battle against the dreaded scourge at great risk to himself.

“On behalf of my family, which cherishes our shared longstanding relationship with the Wachukus and the Nwokolos, I felicitate Prof. Nwokolo and his dear wife Nwabueze on this honour, while praying the Almighty God to continue to bless the family.”
