You’re Betrayals, Ebonyi APC Stakeholders Tell Egwu, State PDP N’Assembly Caucus

Ebonyi State All Progressives Congress (APC) Stakeholders resident in Abuja has called on the Ebonyi Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Assembly caucus led by former governor Sam Egwu to halt their frantic manhunt for political sympathy amid threats to the security of lives of the people.

The stakeholders added that it was a mark of betrayal for any of them to have started a propaganda and a cheap political blackmail for the purposes of creating crisis and confusion in Ebonyi state.

The Leader of Ebonyi APC stakeholders, Senator Julius Ucha stated this at a press conference on Friday in Abuja, while reacting to the allegation that the State Governor, Dave Umahi was using Ebube Agu to harass and intimidate opposition in the state.

It stressed that continuing in this path of disloyalty at a time when the state and entire country was under maximum security red alert was quite unbecoming of the Ebonyi National Assembly PDP caucus.

It said: “We are aware that those members of the National Assembly were the products of the present governor’s effort. He propelled them, he sponsored them, he gave them the opportunity. Therefore, it is a mark of betrayal for any of them to have started a propaganda and a cheap political blackmail for the purposes of creating crisis and confusion in Ebonyi state.”

“As patriotic leaders of thought of Ebonyi State resident in Abuja, it is our considered resolve to admonish Senator Egwu and his group to step back from the maniacal hunt for political sympathy amid threats to the security of lives of our people.”

The Ebonyi APC stakeholders said what was most ignoble about the shameful display of political rascality by the PDP federal lawmakers, was not just the lies and felonious claims they leveled against the governor, they sought to politicise the security of lives and property of Ebonyi people.

It added that the group’s allegation that the governor recruited thugs in the name of Ebube Agu for the purpose of intimidating the opposition PDP, was malicious, medatious, puerile and trivial.

It pointed out that the caucus’ attempt to disparage the governor was nothing but a disingenuous attempt to curry political sympathy and had nothing do with the safety and security of lives and property of Ebonyi State.

The APC stakeholders, therefore, called on Ebonyi people and Nigerians at large to discountenance the frivolous and spurious utterances of Egwu and his colleagues against the governor, saying their allegations were based on the fact of his recent defection from PDP to APC.
