‘Chief Daddy 2’ is in the Kitchen

EbonyLife, in partnership with Netflix, has officially commenced production of Chief Daddy 2, the sequel to EbonyLife’s 2018 box-office hit, writes Ferdinand Ekechukwu

Fans of the hugely successful 2018 comedy Chief Daddy are in for a second dose of laughter, humor, and entertainment as principal photography for the sequel to EbonyLife’s blockbuster began last Tuesday with Niyi Akinmolayan and John Demps as director and director of photography, respectively. “Hello beautiful people. It’s always great to be back on set. Our cameras started rolling this morning on the set of Chief Daddy 2 with our amazing cast & crew. We are really excited about bringing you another amazing film,” EbonyLife CEO and producer of the movie, Mo Abudu stated on Instagram.

The forthcoming “Chief Daddy 2” has been sealed in a deal by EbonyLife Film since July 2020 for a Netflix release in 2021. Recall that Mo Abudu had made the exciting announcement via Instagram that the feature film will be exclusive to Netflix globally. “Good morning beautiful people. I did promise you loads of exciting announcements in July, and in keeping with that promise, I have one more announcement to make before we end July…I am pleased to announce that Ebonylife Films, the Creators and Producers of Chief Daddy in Partnership with NETFLIX will be bringing you Chief Daddy 2 !!!” she wrote.

Chief Daddy is about the life of a billionaire industrialist, Chief Beecroft, who is known to be a pillar of the society. He is extravagant, exuberant and larger-than-life but extremely benevolent, as he serves as a benefactor to everyone around him including a large extended family of relatives, household staff, and mistresses. All seems well in the Beecroft household until Chief Daddy passes away and suddenly the ‘wheels begin to turn’ and things go awry. . . What follows reveals enormous surprises, twist and turns that prove larger than the life Chief Daddy lived.

Chief Daddy hit the Cinemas in December 2018, and was the third movie from the EbonyLife Films Studio to be acquired by Netflix, in March 2019. The star-studded film features top Nollywood actors like Funke Akindele-Bello, Nkem Owoh, Patience Ozokwo, Zainab Balogun, Shaffy Bello, Ini Edo, Dakore Akande, who will reprise their roles in the sequel. Shot in Lagos, the movie’s exceptionally mixed cast of musicians and comedians possesses the pull factor that makes for the cinema audience appeal. And as typical of other box office hits by EbonyLife Production, the plot is said was developed along the party mode.

The Wedding Party, The Wedding Party 2, and The Royal Hibiscus Hotel are some other hit movies from the stable of EbonyLife Films.
