Declare State of Emergency on Security, House Tells Buhari

By Adedayo Akinwale

The House of Representatives has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to declare a state of emergency on security in the country.

The resolution was reached after a three-hour executive session where the deteriorating security situation in the country was discussed.

The House also condemned the attacks on security personnel across the country, and also sympathised with the victims of banditry and other criminal activities.

The lawmakers called for a comprehensive audit of military hardware, and asked the federal government to embark on massive recruitment, saying the current personnel strength of the police is not enough to effectively police the country.
