Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have rescued two victims who were kidnapped by four armed men in Oghara, Ethiope East Local Government Area of the state.

The victims, Solomon Otomierewo of Ibori road, Oghara, and his girlfriend, Rukewe Urhiephroune, were rescued last Monday in an operation led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of the Oghara Police Division.

THISDAY gathered that the victims, while returning from an outing in an unregistered Mercedes GLK SUV, were blocked by four gunmen and whisked into the bush on Koko road.

On receipt of the information, the DPO was said to have swiftly mobilised patrol teams, vigilantes and anti-cult unit to the bush, and rescued the victims unhurt.

The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Edafe Bright, confirmed the rescue of the victims.

He said the kidnappers, on sighting the headlights of the police patrol vehicles, ran in different directions abandoning the victims, thereby making it easy for the police to rescue the victims unhurt.

“Meanwhile, the victims’ vehicle, through technical intelligence, was later traced to Oviore near Isiokolo in Ethiope East LGA where, with the assistance of the army, two of the suspected kidnappers, Oghenetewhe and Gift, were arrested, and the vehicle recovered,” he said.
