Kristen Dawodu: Adekunle Gold, Mayorkun, Fireboy on KD Records’ collaboration Lists

The Chief Executive Officer of KD Records, Oluwagbenga Oluwafemi Dawodu, popularly known as Kristen Dawodu, has said that he is eyeing to collaborate with Adekunle Gold, Mayorkun, and Fireboy, adding that Adekunle Gold’s songs are meaningful and impacting.

Kristen Dawodu, an Ogun State indigene and a graduate of Tai Solarin University, said that he has been in the music business but was not known, until last year when KD Records made a bold step during the Coronavirus pandemic.

“Adekunle Gold is my favorite artist; I will like to collaborate with him, Mayourkun and Fireboy. I love Adekunle lyrics, they are meaningful, you can learn from his songs. During the pandemic, I signed two artists into my record label (KD Records) 2020. Had a few money losses, but that’s business, at the same time, I made a few backs from my artist. It was one hell of a year,” Kristen stated.

The action showed how prepared KD Records is ready to break into the music world. Nevertheless, KD Records has laid down rules and types of artists to work with.

“The business is not all about me now. It’s all about my artist. At KD Records, we all are trying to work on some good music and promote it with lots of money. I want my artists to be known worldwide. We work together as a team to sharpen their talents. Once in a while, we seat together and discuss how we can move our music/ record forward. Trust me, most record labels don’t do this. We don’t have any plan to add to our talents for now. We only want to focus on the two artists. We want to push them as much as I can,” Kristen Dawodu stated.

He gave his reason for not signing female artists against popular demand. Kristen Dawodu stated that women might not be able to do what it takes to push an EP or album.

“I have no reason for not signing a female artist. I guess I haven’t found the right one. Trust me, it is not all about just signing an artist. It’s a matter of can you push them? Can you do all that is required? Aside from that, we go for young, musical and mentally sound artistes. He or she must be able to kill any beat for freestyles. And for all that to we make sure that KD Records artists are comfortable, on good talking terms, not selfish, and mutual respect,” he stated.
