President Muhammadu Buhari Sunday night wished the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Geoffrey Onyeama, who went into isolation after testing positive for Covid-19 on Sunday a speedy recovery.
A statement by presidential spokesman, Malam Garba Shehu, said Buhari described Onyeama as a strong pillar of his administration and commended him for his contributions to efforts to contain the spread of Covid-19 and also ensuring the safety of Nigerians abroad as a member of the Presidential Task Force on Covid-19,
“The country is eternally grateful to Geoffrey Onyeama for his diligence in attracting international support for Nigeria to defeat the coronavirus pandemic and boost the economy. I wish him speedy recovery,” the president was quoted.
Onyeama had announced his positive status through his verified Twitter account, @GeoffreyOnyeama, Sunday.
The minister who disclosed that he was heading for isolation in a health facility, said he decided to take the COVID-19 test Saturday following a sign of a throat irritation.
“I did my fourth COVID-19 test yesterday at the first sign of a throat irritation and unfortunately this time, it came back positive. That is life! Win some lose some. Heading for isolation in a health facility and praying for the best,” Onyeama said.
