Security operatives have rescued an Army Captain, D. Gana, and two others who were kidnapped a few days ago in Ondo State.

Gana and two other persons were abducted by gunmen on Auga/Akunnu in Akoko North East Local Government Area of Ondo State.

The abductors, who contacted relations of their victims, asked them to pay N20 million ransom for their release.

However, the spokesman of the 323 Artillery Brigade, Owena Barrack, Akure, Ondo State, Captain Kayode Omojokun, said thursday that the captain and the two other victims were rescued at a forest around the boundary of Ondo-Edo States near Ibillo.

He said the abductees were rescued without paying any ransom as the kidnappers fled from their den and abandoned their victims.

Meanwhile, community leaders in the area where the people were kidnapped have expressed their concerns over the safety of people in the area.

The regent of Akunu Akoko, Princess Tola Orogun, said the incessant kidnapping around Akunu, Ikakumo and Auga areas deserved the attention of the government in order to save lives and property of the people.

She appealed to the military to deploy more troops in the area, while the police should embark on frequent patrols to checkmate the activities of the criminals.

The Alauga of Auga, Oba Samuel Agunloye, said many farmers were reluctant to go to their farms because of the fear of being kidnapped.
