Abdulsalami Seeks Peaceful Rerun Election in Nigeria

A former military Head of State, Gen. Abdulsalami Abubakar (rtd), has called for a peaceful rerun of inconclusive elections in the country.

Abdulsalami, who made the call during a town hall meeting of NPC in Makurdi, Benue State, yesterday, noted that peaceful election engender development in the society.

Represented by the Media Officer of Kukah Centre, Abdulsalami said: “We are trying to enforce a situation where there are peaceful elections, and ensure that there is peace after the elections.”

Speaking also at the occasion, the state Governor, Samuel Ortom, who was represented by his deputy, Benson Abounu, urged the people to embrace peace which he noted is a prerequisite for development.

He urged the contestants to accept the outcome of any process which is devoid of malpractices.

The governor lauded the convener for the meeting which he said would go a long way to foster peace during the elections even as he cautioned against acts that could lead to loss of lives and destruction of election materials.
