A strategic group in Enugu North senatorial district of Enugu State, known as “Nsukka Zonal Strategic Group (NZSG)”, has unanimously endorsed Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi for a second term in office, resolving to join hands with other people of the state to ensure the governor’s success in the forthcoming 2019 elections.
The group, which membership cut across every strata of society – leaders of thought, captains of industry, the academia, entrepreneurs, businessmen and women, and youths, with notable personalities, such as Chief Okechukwu Itanyi; Mr. Vita Abba; Prof. Osita Ogbu and Maj. Gen. Godwin Ugwuoke (rtd), among others, gave the endorsement, after assessing the achievements of the governor in the past three and half years.
They commended Ugwuanyi for “the remarkable and exemplary way he has piloted the affairs of Enugu State”, expressing gratitude to him for the monumental infrastructural development in the state evidenced in numerous road constructions across the three senatorial districts.
The group’s members also expressed “full satisfaction with the prudent manner” the governor “has managed the resources of the state culminating in the prompt payment of salaries of civil servants including the 13th month of every year, as well, that of pensioners in the state”.
They equally lauded the governor for improving the internally generated revenue portfolio of the state, adding that “Enugu State was rated the “third in the country after Lagos and Rivers State” and “first state in the whole country in Fiscal Sustainability Index by World reputable economic analyst, Ernest and Young”.
The strategic group observed with great delight the peace and security of lives and prosperity being enjoyed in Enugu State as well as the governor’s inclusive leadership style, describing them as “unprecedented” in the history of the state, and urged him to continue to sustain the good works.
