The Niger State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and former Governor of Plateau State, Senator Jonah David Jang, have hailed a former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar on his emergence as the presidential candidate of the party.
‘The PDP said in a statement signed by its Niger State chapter Chairman, Mr. Tanko Beji, which was made available to journalists in Minna yesterday, that the emergence of Atiku was the best thing to happen to Nigeria because he possessed the requisite qualification and experience needed to confront the ruling candidate.
According to Beji, “the wide acceptability of Alhaji Abubakar and his belief in the unity and progress of Nigeria has already made him the candidate to beat in the 2019 presidential election.
“On our part in Niger State, we assure Alhaji Abubakar of our full support, we will campaign vigorously for him along the length and breadth of this state to ensure he emerges victorious in the election.
“We will also join our brothers and sisters all over the country to carry the vote Abubakar for president message to all the nook and crannies of our country” Beji said in the statement.
Meanwhile, a former Governor of Plateau State and Senator representing Plateau North, Jonah David Jang has also congratulated Atiku over his success at the just concluded PDP elective convention.
Jang, who was also a contestant for the presidential ticket, in a statement he personally signed said his aspiration to clinch the ticket came to an end “when His Excellency former Vice-president Atiku Abubakar emerged victorious.”
The Senator said, “On behalf of my Campaign Team and Supporters, I hereby congratulate Atiku Abubakar for a deserved victory and accept in totality the outcome of the Primary Elections.
“Special commendation must also go to the Uche Secondus led National Working Committee of our great party and the Convention Planning Committee chaired by His Excellency Ifeanyi Okowa the Executive Governor of Delta State, for a hitch free process which was free and fair by all standards of scrutiny. To be sure, it will go down in history as one of the very best Conventions in our history as a political party,” Jang said.
