My Defection from APC Won’t Affect My Popularity, Says Misau

The Senator representing Bauchi Central, Alhaji Isah Hamma Misau has stated that despite his defection from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), his popularity is still intact among his constituents.

He stated this yesterday in Misau Local Government Area (LGA) of the state while officially collecting his PDP membership card at the party’s local government secretariat.

According to him, lack of internal democracy and justice for all members were some of the reasons that informed his decision to quit the APC.

“I was a founding member of the APC but we and our supporters were short-changed in the recent local governments and state congresses of the party. Our people were denied forms and election officials were hidden from us. So, the injustice in APC is worse than what we accused PDP of in the past’’.

“In APC, if you have grievances, you have nowhere to channel your complaints. Everybody knows that there is discipline in PDP because whenever you are maltreated by any party official, you know where to report your grievances and get attention,” he explained.

The lawmaker added that he had provided solar boreholes, transformers and schools across the six local governments of his constituency expressed optimism that he would be re-elected in 2019 under any political party.

He noted that for over three years, APC chieftains have been fighting one another and the national leadership of the party failed to intervene thereby forcing some of them to defect from the party.

He hailed Vice President Yemi Osinbajo for “addressing of the problems in the police and the Department of State Services (DSS)”, while in acting capacity, alleging that there are also ‘bad eggs’ among the federal political appointees that need to be dealt with for the best interest of the country.
