APC Convention: Okadigbo Group Backs Nwogu’s Bid for National Organising Secretary

Members of the Chuba Okadigbo Rainbow Organisation in the All Progressives Congress (APC) have thrown their weight behind Hon. Chidi Nwogu, who is vying for national organising secretary of the party at the national convention slated for June 23.

The Okadigbo group adopted Hon. Nwogu at a meeting of its leaders held in Abuja.
Chuba Okadigbo Rainbow Organisation was formed by late President of Senate, Dr. Chuba Okadigbo, as an umbrella political body for all his supporters nationwide.
Okadigbo used the organisation as a campaign platform when he ran as vice presidential candidate with President Muhammadu Buhari in the 2003 presidential election.
About seven aspirants have filled nomination forms to contest for the position of National organising secretary of the APC, including the incumbent, Senator Osita Izunaso.

In a communiqué signed by the national leader of the group, Chief Peter Emenaka; North East coordinator, Alhaji Yakubu Das; and South West leader, Hon. Dare Falade, the group urged President Buhari to honour the memory of Okadigbo by accepting Nwogu as the national organising secretary of the APC.
The group gave reasons for backing Nwogu saying he was loyal to their leader throughout the period he contested with Buhari for the presidency in 2003.
They debunked claims by certain persons who they said were parading themselves as Okadigbo’s men in a bid to obtain the endorsement of President Buhari and other APC leaders.
The group assured APC leaders that Nwogu would uphold the principles of their late leader, having worked closely with him. They directed their members in APC from all parts of the country to join the campaign for Nwogu’s election as the next national organising secretary of APC.
The group appealed to President Buhari to ensure that Okadigbo’s supporters were fully integrated into the APC. It said its members were ready to campaign for Buhari in the 2019 presidential election.
