NPFL: Lokosa Scores 19th Goal of Season to Rescue Kano Pillars from Home Defeat

The leading scorer in the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL), Junior Lokosa scored his  19th goal of the season to rescue Kano Pillars from defeat in front of their fans to visiting Rivers United.

Lokosa who missed the Super Eagles train to Russia added to his goal tally in the 47th minute to cancel out Osita Chikere’s 12th minute lead for the Rivers team.

The Sai Masu Gida thus consolidated on third spot with 38 points with the 1-1 draw

Elsewhere yesterday, Akwa United reduced Lobi Stars’ lead at the top of the NPFL table to just two points when they won 1-0 at Yobe Desert Stars while the Makurdi club fell by the odd goal at struggling Go Round FC in Omoku.

Akwa United remains second in the standings with 41 points from 24 matches, while Lobi remains on 43 points.

There were also home wins for Enugu Rangers, Enyimba, Kwara United, Sunshine Stars and Niger Tornadoes.

The match between MFM FC and El Kanemi is to take place this morning at the Agege Stadium.
