Bauchi Releases N2.4bn UBEC Counterpart Fund

The Bauchi State government has released over N2.4 billion as its counterpart funding for the UBEC/SUBEB 2016 intervention project in the state.

The Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Professor Yahaya Yero, who disclosed this during an interactive session with successful contractors and service providers of the project, said the session was organised to show them samples of materials to be used for the project in accordance with government’s specifications.

To ensure qualitative work, he said the board has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the service providers and explained that contracts for renovation, construction and drilling of boreholes are expected to be completed within four, three and two months respectively.

Yero warned the contractors against giving any bribe or gratification to anybody as anyone found wanting would be penalised.

Speaking on behalf of education secretaries of the 20 local government areas of the state, the Education Secretary, Bauchi Local Government Area, Malam Alhassan Salmanu appealed to the contractors and engineers to work closely with them for effective execution of the project.

Some of the contractors and service providers who spoke during the session promised to execute the project in accordance with the agreement.
