Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State has nominated and submitted the name of the past state chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Usman Danmadamin-Isa to the state House of Assembly for confirmation and subsequent appointment as commissioner.
This was contained in a nomination letter signed by the governor and made available to THISDAY in Sokoto on Sunday.
According to the letter, the nomination of Danmadamin-Isa was as a result of the need for wider political participation in governance.
The letter further said the nomination was in line with section 192 of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended.
It described the nominee as an experienced grassroots politician whose nomination was based on his antecedents.
“The nominee is an astute politician with impressive grassroots appeal, a team player and mass mobiliser who had served in many capacities within the political landscape of the state.
“He will therefore bring his experience to bear in the conduct of government business.
“While anticipating an expeditious consideration of the nomination, accept, Mr. Speaker, my highest regards and extend same to the members of the House,” the letter read.
