Army Repels Another Terrorist Attack, Kills Six in N’east

Troops of Operation Lafiya Dole of the Nigerian Army have successfully repelled another Boko Haram terrorists attack in Gashigar town of Borno State killing six of them.

The Director of Army Public Relations (DAPR), Brig-Gen. Texas Chukwu, in a statement Tuesday said some of the terrorists were also wounded during the encounter.

Chukwu, however, noted that two soldiers were wounded during the operation

He listed the items recovered to include: anti aircraft gun, four AK47 rifles, six AK47 magazines, two mortar bombs and tow gun trucks.

In the same vein, he said the troops successfully cleared Gambori, Dumbawa, Damsu, Awardi, Kanaram, Laridi, Malumdi and Yuramdi villages.

He listed further items recovered to include: one refrigerator, one 14-inch TV, two DVDs players and a box filled with drugs.

Chukwu said efforts are also being intensified to arrest fleeing other members of the terrorists group.

In another development, the DAPR said the troops of 177 Guards Battalion while on raid operation at Ugya village in Toto Local Government Area of Nasarawa State destroyed some armed militia camp.

“Items recovered include: Seven locally made guns, 12 cartridges, 200 rounds of 7.62MM special ammunition, 76 rounds of 7.62MM NATO special ammunition, four knives, 15 cutlasses, six mobile phones, one DSTv decoder set and four solar panel sets,” he stated.

The army spokesman said the spiritual head of the militia group, one Angulu Idaku, was also arrested.
