Lexus Crafts a Special-Edition RX SUV

Lexus is continuing to diversify its popular SUV line-up with the introduction of special-edition versions of the luxury RX SUV.

Based on the Luxury grade and available with all three powertrains, the Lexus RX Crafted makes a visual impact with striking black coating for its 20-inch alloy wheels and black accents for the grille, fog-lamp bezels, mirror caps and rear bumper.

Highly prized additions include a moonroof and features normally reserved for higher grades: a colour head-up display, 12.3” high-definition infotainment screen (upgraded from 8-inch) and a premium 15-Speaker Mark Levinson® sound system with Clari-Fi technology.

The five-seat Lexus RX Crafted – available with the RX 300 turbo, RX 350 V6 petrol and RX 450h self-charging hybrid electric powertrains – is being offered for just $7,100 above the Luxury grades. Lexus is offering 300 of the special-edition models.

Lexus Australia chief executive Scott Thompson said the price step for the Lexus RX Crafted was approximately half-way to the F Sport variants that already offer many of the special-edition features as standard.

“The additional luxury and value of the stylish Lexus RX Crafted will attract a wider audience to a vehicle noted for its practicality, convenience, spaciousness and easy manoeuvrability,” Mr. Thompson said.

Like every vehicle in the RX Line, the Lexus RX Crafted ensures a high level of safety with Lexus Safety System + including a pre-collision safety system with pedestrian detection^ and autonomous emergency braking.

All-speed radar active cruise control, blind-spot monitor, rear cross-traffic alert and reversing camera with rear guide assist are part of the safety technology offered across the range. The RX is also equipped with bi-LED headlights with LED cornering lights, rain-sensing wipers and 10 airbags.

Other premium appointments include leather-accented trim, heated and ventilated front seats, dual-zone Lexus Climate Concierge with nanoe™ technology, keyless entry and ignition, power tailgate, Bluetooth® mobile phone connectivity, wireless charger and USB/AUX inputs.

The RX Line, now in its fourth generation, was expanded in February this year with the addition of three-row variants offering seven-seat accommodation.

To the end of April, Lexus RX sales have risen 22.7 per cent compared with the same period last year.

This is the first year Lexus SUV sales have surpassed 2,000 deliveries before the end of April, with the total reaching 2,095 vehicles – a gain of 18.8 per cent over the same period of 2017.
