Nwulu Promises to Cut down Govt Expenditure, Use Security Vote to Create Employment, If he Becomes Governor

The governorship aspirant ahead 2019 election in Imo State, Hon. Tony Nwulu, has criticised the reckless expenditure obtainable in government especially in the state, and promised to cut down such expenditures so as to provide the required dividends of democracy to the people if he gets into Douglas House as governor.

He would also ensure that the security vote assigned to the office of the governor was channelled to another critical area which successive governments had neglected and utilise it to create massive employment to the youths of the state.

Nwulu, who hails from Eziudo in Ezinihitte Mbaise Local Government Area of the State, is currently representing Isolo/Oshodi 11 federal constituency of Lagos State in the House of Representatives is running under the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and his popularity among the youths presently is given him an edge over other aspirants in the state.

The originator and chief sponsor of the bill “Not too Young to Run” which is presently waiting presidential assent has maintained a level-headed approach towards governance by choosing not to be addressed as “His Excellency” when he gets to the government house, as well as ensuring that government expenditures are reduced in order to allow for inclusiveness for real development of the state.

According to him, commissioners would only be allowed to drive one car without any back-up vehicle or unnecessary aides while other government support staff would be reduced in order to accommodate begging developmental programmes as well as provide enough for the people.

He, however, stated that government under his watch would eschew any tendencies of unnecessary waste of government funds through celebration of parties and organising birthdays with the longest cake in the world just to appease the governor.

Speaking through the Media Director of Mezie Imo Movement (MIM), Nneji Uneze, Nwulu however disclosed his desire to run simple and inclusive governance tailored towards due process by making sure that the governor’s convoy is reduced to at least three cars, while other functionaries of government would follow same.

He noted that the usual security vote which governors utilise any how they like would however, be channelled towards creation of employment and youth empowerment programmes and by so doing poverty in the land would be reduced while security would be checkmated, adding “those youths you empower with the money will no longer go to steal or be involved in other criminal activities”.

The lawmaker, however, reminded Imo people to go and register and obtain their permanent voter cards (PVC) which would empower them to choose their candidate at the election proper in 2019 elections.
