Finally, Buhari Set to Visit Benue, Taraba, Others

President Muhammadu Buhari Monday commenced visits to volatile states in the country months after the outbreak of violence in such states which had claimed several lives.

A statement by Mr. Femi Adesina, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, said the president, beginning from Monday, would visit Taraba, Benue, Yobe, Zamfara and Rivers States.

It also said the president’s scheduled visit was driven by recent terrorist attacks, criminal activities and communal clashes in some states of the federation leading to the tragic loss of lives as well as the kidnap of 110 schoolgirls in Dapchi, Yobe State.

Furthermore, Adesina stated that Buhari had immediately after the tragic incidents, tasked the armed forces and other security agencies to compile comprehensive reports on these various incidents.

According to him, having received and studied the reports, the president had deemed it fit to undertake an on the spot assessment of these various occurrences and consequently meet and console the communities affected.

Disclosing that the president had been receiving daily briefings over the incidents and also in constant touch with governors of the affected states, Adesina stated he had equally advised Nigerians to cooperate with security agents with a view to nipping the matters in the bud.
