In a bid to reduce the sufferings and loss of man-hour faced by motorists and other road users plying the Abeokuta-Lagos and old Ilaro roads, the Ogun State Government has recently completed the rehabilitation of some bad portions of the roads.

In a statement, the State Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Arch. Olamilekan Adegbite, who noted that the rehabilitation had become necessary to make for safer motoring in the areas, also said that carrying out the maintenance was crucial as a result of large volume of human and vehicular activities occurring on the roads on a daily basis.
Adegbite hinted that Senator Ibikunle Amosun-led administration was strategically prioritising state’s funds on major dilapidated roads within the state.

He said, “It is our duty to ensure that all the roads within Ogun State are in good condition, but due to paucity of funds, we have to strategically choose the roads to be rehabilitated in terms of importance.”
The commissioner said that quite a number of federal road within the state have undergone rehabilitation since the past six and half years as the state government could no longer wait for federal government to have acted, adding that the roads were critical for the socio-economic life of the people.

He was full of optimism that the current administration would not relent in its efforts at ensuring that all roads within its state, not minding their classification, would be put in good condition.
