Billionaire oil magnate, Prince Arthur Eze, has in a surprise move backed Chief Victor Umeh in his quest to represent Anambra Central in the Senate.

The contentious position which has remained vacant since 2015 after the sacking of Mrs. Uche Ekwunife; would witness a rerun on January 13, 2018.

Umeh who was at the residence of Prince Eze for the Ofala festival of his elder brother and monarch of Ukpo kingdom described him as an illustrious Igbo son, worthy to represent Anambra Central senatorial district at the Senate.

Umeh who stormed the Okofia Palace, Ukpo, to pay homage to Igwe Robert Eze received a rousing ovation from the dignitaries present at the event.

Eze was the financial backer of the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the November 18 gubernatorial election in Anambra State, Dr. Tony Nwoye.

Nwoye who was also at the event, in the spirit of sportsmanship, embraced Umeh and assured him of his support.

He promised that he would work with him when he gets to the National Assembly. Nwoye is a sitting lawmaker in the House of Representatives.

Umeh has been adjudged the only strong candidate for the January 18, 2018 rerun election, after the sacking of PDP candidate, Peter Obi and the withdrawal of APC candidate, Dr. Chris Ngige.
