Three-year-old Suffers Hole-in-the-heart Defect, Needs N2.5m

A three-year-old girl, Adeola Boluwatife needs urgent help and support of Nigerians to correct a heart defect, which she has been living with since birth.

In a medical report by the Department of Paediatrics, Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital says little Miss Adeola, has cyanotic congenital heart disease.

The report signed by Consultant Paediatrician and Paediatric Cardiologist, Dr John Okeniyi, said in its conclusions that she is suffering from “cyanotic congenital hearts disease: Tertiary of fallout with sub-valvar, valvar and supra-valvar stenosis.”

Dr Okeniyi recommended “parental counseling, venous haematocrit, urgent saline partial exchange, propranolol, for intra-cardiac repair ASAP.”

Her referral indication from the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital (EKSUTH), by Dr Fatunla, had said “cyanosis since infancy, recurrent squatting and breathlessness.”

Her mother said she noticed abnormalities in her daughter when she was about three months and has cried out to public-spirited Nigerians for help.

Mrs. Adeola, a teacher by profession said her family was told that they’d need to raise N2.5million, pointing out that her civil servant husband and herself cannot afford that.
