For the third time in a week, the Senate Adhoc committee investigating the circumstances of the return and re-instatement of the fugitive former Chairman of the Presidential Pension Reforms Task Force Team, Mr. Abdulrasheed Maina, into the civil service, yesterday, met with the Attorney General of the Federation, Mr. Abubakar Malami, behind closed doors.

There was no official brief to journalists on details of the meeting which last edfor about an hour.
Malami who walked out of the office of the Committee Chairman where the meeting held, declined to entertain any questions from waiting journalists.

A source privy to the details however disclosed that Malami had responded to queries on his alleged involvement in the scandal.
“He was implicated by some correspondences, letters he wrote and signed. He has provided his response to explain these,” the source said.

The source added that the committee members led by Senator Emmanuel Paulker are studying the responses. Paulkner last week said the meetings are being held behind closed doors to avoid media influence and to provide an atmosphere where those summoned can open up honestly on their involvement.

Malami is alleged to have written the letter clearing Maina of corruption allegations and directing that he be re-absorbed into the service.
