Police Nab 12 Crime Suspects in Niger

12 suspected criminals among them, a notorious fake hard currency dealer, have been arrested by the Niger State police command.

Five of those arrested were suspected armed robbers while the remaining six were drug peddlers.
One Abubakar Suleiman of no fixed address was arrested for being in possession of 88 bundles of fake $100 dollar notes.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Superintendent of Police Abigail Unaeze, who paraded the suspects before journalists on Monday said Sulaiman had confessed to committing the crime and would be charged to court soon.

Unaeze said Sani Yusuf, Hamisu Adamu, Saidu Samaila, Mohammed, Adamu Mohammed and Mohammed Hashiru were arrested for alleged armed robbery.
The police spokesman said 86 wraps of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, 164MG tablets, 11 dizapam, one packet of big bond and matches box were also recovered from the suspects.

Unaeze said the police were also Investigating the raid by yet unknown persons on the residence of one Dr. Amsndi Akorbumdu in the Bosso low cost housing in Minna.

However, she said after the robbers fled, they abandoned a bag which contained one AK47 rifle with 25 rounds of live ammunition and a mask.
The PPRO said all the cases were under investigation and that the suspects would be charged to court soon.
