Waziri of Sokoto Junaidu Dies at 85

The 12th Waziri of Sokoto and a senior counsellor  in the Sultanate Council, Alhaji Usman Junaidu is dead. He  died on Fridayat the age of 85 after a brief illness. A statement issued to newsmen from the deceased family said late Junaidu died in the early hours of Friday. He was survived by two wives, 12 children and many grandchildren. Among the children were Prof. Abdulkadir Junaidu, Director,  University Development of Usmanu Danfodio University Sokoto, Alhaji Abubakar Junaidu and Junaidu Junaidu Directors at Sokoto Media Corporation and Ministry of Finance respectively.

Late Junaidu attended Al’azhar University Cairo, Egypt and served as Principal of Mahmud Gumi Memorial College and Director in the state ministry of education. The funeral rites was attended by Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto state, Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar, Senator  Aliyu Wamakko, Emir of Gwandu, Muhammadu Bashar, Business Mogul, Alhaji Umarun Kabo and All Progressive Party (APC) Chieftain, Alhaji Inuwa Abdulkadir among others. Meanwhile, thousands of mourners have continued to troop to the  Sultan Palace  for condolence.
