The Rotary of Club of Lagos Island District 9110 Nigeria and Geeta Ashram Nigeria have called on federal government to continue to pursue policies aimed at improving healthcare delivery in the country.

The call was made at the recently concluded free eye operation camp, tagged: ‘Vision 2020-the right to sight’ organised by the Rotary Club of Lagos Island District 9110 in Kano State.

According to a statement made available to THISDAY by the media consultant to Rotary Club of Lagos Island District 9110, Aramide Noibe, it was noted that government health policies should focus on areas of blindness and other chronicle ailments.

It also called individuals and Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) to support government financially in its drive in healthcare delivery, adding that government alone cannot shoulder the financial responsibilities.

It would be recalled that Geeta Ashram Nigeria started the projects since 2001, but stopped due to the political situation in the country, then resumed in 2009 and subsequently partnered with the Rotary Mega Club of Lagos Island to actualise the 2017 project. It was further noted that the exercise involved daily surgical operation of 80 beneficiaries, while at the end 436 beneficiaries were treated of various eye defects.
