The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) wednesday released the officials of the Ekiti State Government it arrested last month.

The EFCC had arrested the state Commissioner for Finance, Chief Toyin Ojo, and state Accountant General, Mrs Yemi Owolabi, over corruption allegations.

The arrest which coincided with the presidential declaration of Governor Ayo Fayose of Ekiti State was interpreted as a political witch hunt by many over the political ambition and views of Fayose.

EFCC Head of Media and Information, Wilson Uwujaren, confirmed the release late last night, saying: “Yes, they have been released, they are no longer in our custody.”

Uwujaren further informed THISDAY that “they are expected to report back to the commission in the future.”
