Ekiti APC Elders’ Forum Backs Zoning of 2018 Gov Poll

The Deputy Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Elders’ Forum in Ekiti State, Chief Femi Oyebanjo, has said the maintenance of equity, justice and fair play forced the body to back zoning of the governorship slot for the 2018 poll.

He said the chairman of the forum, Chief George Akosile, and others
have decided not to back any aspirant as elders but decided to back zoning of the ticket to the south senatorial district on the premise that the zone has not been privileged to produce the governor since 1999.

This came as an APC governorship aspirant, Mr Kola Alabi, advised the APC to embrace generational shift by allowing a younger and vibrant person to fly the party’s flag for the impending election.

Alabi said the party must emulate the APC in Anambra, which decided to elect a 42-year-old Medical Doctor, Hon. Tony Nwoye, as the candidate for the November 2017 governorship poll.

Oyebanjo, who spoke in Ijero Ekiti when Alabi visited the council to consult the party’s executives for the primary, said the forum is not interested in any aspirant but deeply concerned about how to ensure political balancing in the state.
