Nigerian Sports Gets NSSM Boost

National Society for Sports Management (NSSM) is set to host its 2017 National Conference which aims to address issues relating to effective implementation of sports policy in Nigeria.

The conference, scheduled to hold at the Permanent Campus of the Bayero University, Kano from August 15 and 16 with the theme “Challenges in the implementation of sports policy to power sports development”, also has 22 sub-themes which cover health, economic, ICT, ethics and legal aspects of sports development, among others.

Highlights of the two-day conference would have Professor Florence Adeyanju of the Faculty of Education, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria present the keynote address while Lead Papers 1 and 2 would be presented by Professor Nabath Tanglang of the National Open University, Abuja and Professor Babatunde Asagba of the University of Ibadan respectively.

Among participants at the conference would include professionals in physical education, health education, recreation, sports and dance in primary, secondary and tertiary institutions, as well as states’ sports directors, secretaries of sports associations and federations and the organised private sector.

According to the NSSM President, Professor Muhammed Baba Gambari, the conference will be hosted by Vice Chancellor of the Bayero University, Professor Muhammed Yahuza Bello, while Dean, Faculty of Education, Professor Ali Tijani Abdullahi and Head of the Physical and Health Department, Dr. Musa Njida, of the same institution will be co-hosts.
